The Salvation Army is seeking the right person to provide specialist expertise in the development and delivery of a national youth discipleship strategy.
We take our inspiration from the first disciples to follow Jesus, and those who have come along since. We hear Jesus' simple call to 'follow' and seek to equip young people to understand and contextualise this call for themselves. We hold this calling alongside the distinctives of The Salvation Army. Central to our faith formation is a focus on holiness and action: heart to God, hand to man. In all we do, we will point young people towards holiness, and send them out to be transformative agents, as disciples of Jesus in the tradition of social change and justice.
Key Responsibilities: Based at The Salvation Army's Headquarters in London, with peripatetic working this post will deliver the following discipleship priorities: - Promoting youth discipleship as a whole of life commitment- Enabling young people to live out and share the gospel in their communities- Identifying, developing and providing resources and training- Prioritising soldiership as an expression of membership and discipleship
The successful candidate for this full-time position is expected to be highly experienced in working with youth leaders, young people and young adults including development of national strategies, discipleship programmes, training, resources, outreach and social action projects and programmes with experience of harnessing social media to further enhance discipleship. In addition excellent organisational and project management skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to multi-task, creativity, innovation, initiative and attention to detail are required.
This role has an occupational requirement that the successful candidate must be a committed and practising Christian and will be in sympathy with the doctrines of, and supportive of, the purposes and the aims and objectives of The Salvation Army.
