As the Youth Worker, the successful applicant will be responsible for nurturing young people and helping them explore the Christian faith. You will take a lead in creating diverse opportunities to disciple and equip young people as they explore what it means to live as followers of Christ in contemporary culture. You will also work with other organisations and develop links with schools as we seek to reach out into the community.
Key Responsibilities:
This is an exciting opportunity for anyone with energy, enthusiasm and passion for young people. You will lead and deliver regular age-related activities and be instrumental in providing a joined-up approach to the support of youth work as part of the Church ministry. A key part of this role will be nurturing young people and engaging them in exploring the Christian faith in relevant ways. If you have a passion for seeing this happen for young people in our community and Church, this is the job for you.
The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:
- GCSE Maths & English grade A-C or equivalent;
- Foundation Certificate in Youth work or equivalent qualification in a related field/willingness to qualify if unqualified;
- Experience of youth work in a church context;
- Experience of planning age-related activities and desire to initiate new ventures relevant to local needs; facilitation of the development of Discipleship, Worship, Mission and Social Action initiatives for young people;
- Experience of working face-to-face with young people in informal situations
This role has an occupational requirement that the successful candidate must be a committed and practising Christian and will be in sympathy with the doctrines of, and supportive of, the purposes and the aims and objectives of The Salvation Army.
