The Salvation Army Anti-Trafficking & Modern Slavery International Team are looking for a Reseach Volunteer to support on two projects. Please see the attached role description to find out more!
This role can be completed remotely with weekly supervision via Microsoft Teams.
We are flexible on a commitment, but at least 4 hours per week for a period of at least 6 months (can be more hours if you wish!)

Are you a team playing with great communication and relationship building skills? Could you support a team that lead on outreach to those who work within the sex industry?
What you'll be doing:• To build good working relationships with clients based on mutual respect and trust.• To offer signposting support to clients.• To be able to work as part of a team.• To support team leader in safeguarding and protecting vulnerable adults.• To be open to the understanding that prayer will happen at different points throughout outreach.• To always have time for de-briefing after the outreach.• To contribute to maintaining outreach records.• To ensure that lone-working telephone support is in place before going on outreach.• To ensure you are aware of the agreed-upon safe sentence before going on outreach.• To attend a supervision every 3 months with the team leader.• To read and adhere to the Volunteer Code of Conduct and Handbook outlines.
Skills/experience needed:• Interest in the Salvation Army’s work.• Ability to work as part of a team.• Willingness to build meaningful professional relationships with clients and stakeholders. • Ability to maintain confidentiality of the activities on outreach.• Good listening and empathy skills.• Enthusiasm and energetic.• Reliable• Awareness of safeguarding and health & safety issues.• Training in first-aid would be desirable (full training is provided) • DBS clearance• Complete Faith House volunteers training & induction
Commitment: we are looking for a minimum commitment of 2 hours a week and who can assist outside of working hours. The outreach shifts takes place on Fridays between 10pm and 12am.

We are looking for volunteers to help adults who are learning English by hosting a weekly ‘Conversation Club’ to help adults (males) to;
-build confidence and skills using English in day-to-day situations
-feel championed and empowered
-have a safe space to express themselves
Location: Newcastle TBC
Weekly commitment: Weekly afternoon sessions over 6 weeks, 2 hours per session (set day to be confirmed).

To plan and deliver nutritious meals at community lunch club.
You’ll need to be a confident cook, who can work within a budget to plan (liaising with the Corps Leader), cook and serve up quality basic hot meals to around 10-20 people, every week - in accordance with safety and hygiene regulations.

About the role:
Do you enjoy meeting new people? Are you friendly, kind and practical? Could you commit to 2-3 hours a week supporting people in your community this winter? Our warm space programme will open from January 2024 and will give people in our community a space to meet, talk and enjoy other’s company in a warm and welcoming environment. If you’d be interested in helping with our programme we’d love to hear from you.
Time commitment: 2h30/week and will be agreed with the Community Mission Facilitator.

Do you want to support those in need in the local community? If yes, we need volunteer bus drivers to drive our Social Supermarket bus from Hadleigh, Essex to various locations on Canvey Island. This is a great opportunity to meet like-minded volunteers who want to help The Salvation Army in supporting those in need.

Do you enjoy meeting people and contributing to their wellbeing? Are you friendly and impartial? If so, there’s a volunteering role for you on our new Community Food Bus “Stuff on the Bus”. You will be a vital part of the operation, volunteering with a great new team in this new Fresh Expression community project.
